Love Is RED

Love was certainly celebrated in red this week as Edel & Marcin were married at the Sunset Beach Club on Wednesday. The cake, decorated to compliment the red colour scheme was also decorated with a cake topper to celebrate the union of two families from across Europe – Edel from Ireland and Marcin from Poland.

Balloon decorations were provided by the hotel while Shona from Bunches supplied the beautiful table arrangements. This D.I.Y savvy bride put together her own candy buffet upon which we supplied the shell themed cupcakes…in red of course!

We were delighted recently to be commissioned to make the cake for the 20th Anniversary celebrations. The cake was made of rich brandy soaked fruit & designed around the website logo – with dark green wording on a white background. Congratulations to all, here’s to another successful 20 years!

Forever Purple

Rose & Shane

Congratulations to Rose & Shane who were married last week in Gibraltar. This was a stunning yet simple two tier cake made  up from a top tier in a classic victoria sponge and the lower tier in our ever popular zingy lemon sponge. Rose chose a beautiful purple floral design for the decoration on the cake to compliment her wedding theme.

Vintage Chic

This week we travelled to Mijas pueblo for a very vintage chic themed wedding.

The cake was a gluten free cake and was modelled on along the lines of a classic vintage birdcage. Piping to highlight the features of the birdcage then  trimmed with vintage sugar lace. The cake was finished off by decorating with pretty sugar roses dusted in lilac.

To compliment the cake, table name cards and a birdcage table plan were used to guide guests to their seats, pretty vintage birdcage favour boxes added the finishing touch to this beautiful vintage themed wedding.

This guy was made for the owner of a local water-sports centre in Torrox Costa. Definitely not to be messed with – makes ‘Jaws’ look quite friendly !!

Just For Cupcakes

We are excited to announce the launch of our new cupcake decoration range – ‘Just For Cupcakes’.  ‘ Just For Cupcakes’ specialise in pretty but different decorations for cupcakes.  Resulting from the plethora of cupcake decoration styles we have been asked to create over the years, this new range has been born.

Creating a ‘vintage feel’ using bunting is a tremendously popular and extremely pretty means of decorating a venue. This fashionable vintage style is so often replicated with the cake using pretty bunting once again as a form of decoration, particularly for the top tier.

We thought it would be a great idea to start by creating some mini bunting just for the cupcakes.  Our mini bunting has been styled taking into account all things wedding – hearts, flowers and traditional bunting triangles, creating the bunting in stylish wedding colours  –  resulting in these fabulously cute designs.

Our new range is called ‘Just For Cupcakes’ – from Boda Boutique and is available to purchase online via our FB page. The mini bunting is for sale in packs of 6 for €5 and is available in a huge selection of colours and designs, contact us for details or more information via the contact page on our website or email

Captivating Cookies

Raspberry & White Chocolate Cookies

Using raspberries and white chocolate together, make a delicious combination, for this summer cookie. The sharpness of the raspberries as their flavour combines with the sweet white chocolate chunks is sublime. We often make wedding cakes with this wonderful combination, it is a very popular choice, so we thought we would try out this combination of ingredients in a cookie. Searching through my recipe archives I came across an old ‘Carnation’ recipe that I removed from a magazine years ago, it is certainly worth a try.

r&w cookies

170g Condensed Milk;  225g Butter;  225g Sugar;  350g S.R. Flour;  150g White Chocolate – chopped into chunks;  175g Raspberries – I have found that freeze dried raspberries work particularly well with this recipe as they tend to hold their shape and retain their flavour:-

Pre heat Oven to 175 degrees fan

Prepare a baking sheet with greaseproof paper

Cream butter & sugar

Add condensed milk and mix in well

Add the flour, chocolate chunks and finally the raspberries.

Place the mixture in heaped teaspoons onto the baking sheet, leave space in between the mixture to allow for ‘spreading’.

Bake for 10 – 15 mins until the cookies are a golden brown.

Remove from the oven place on a cooling rack and allow to cool
